Amethyst

Amethyst is a violet macrocrystalline variety of quartz. The colour can be more or less intense, depending on the amount of iron (Fe+3) it contains. It can be coloured in areas with transparent or yellow quartz. The tips are usually darker or degrade to colourless quartz.
